Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb frozen gyoza dumplings (vegan)
  • 1 lb heirloom tomatoes (mixed colors)
  • 1 English cucumber
  • 5 scallions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 red chili pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup basil leaves
  • 3 Tbsp Tamari (low sodium)
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 23 tsp maple syrup
  • For garnish: toasted sesame seeds or crispy fried onions

Instructions

  1. Steam the frozen gyoza dumplings according to package instructions. Transfer them to a large bowl and drizzle with sesame oil or water to prevent sticking.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together Tamari, balsamic vinegar, and maple syrup to create the dressing.
  3. Cut heirloom tomatoes into wedges and thinly slice the cucumber and scallions. Add these fresh ingredients to the bowl with the dumplings along with the optional red chili pepper.
  4. Tear basil leaves over the top of the salad mixture and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds or crispy onions.
  5. Serve at room temperature, optionally drizzling garlic chili sauce on top for an extra kick.
