  • 250g unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 200g granulated sugar
  • 120g light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 egg, at room temperature
  • 1 egg yolk, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200g All-Purpose Flour, sifted
  • 80g Cocoa, sifted
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 300g Kit Kats, coarsely chopped, plus extra for the tops (optional)
  • 150g chopped chocolate (dark recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the whole egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate the sifted flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda; mix until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped Kit Kats and chocolate using a rubber spatula.
  6. Scoop dough into balls onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  7. Press extra Kit Kat pieces on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 15–16 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  9. Cool on pans for about 20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
