  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 21/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 or 3 cups dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the two sticks of unsalted butter while stirring frequently until golden brown. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. In a stand mixer, combine the cooled browned butter with brown sugar, white sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually incorporate all-purpose flour, followed by baking soda and salt. Mix until combined and fold in dark chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop large balls of dough onto a lined baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  6. Bake for about 12 minutes until slightly undercooked; let cool on a rack.
