  • ½ loaf of French bread (about 8 oz), cut into cubes
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon (divided)
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, fresh fruit, whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and butter a 13×9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in brown sugar until dissolved. Pour this mixture into the bottom of the baking pan.
  3. Distribute the bread cubes evenly over the brown sugar mixture.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon; pour over the bread cubes to saturate them.
  5. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon and additional brown sugar.
