  • 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth
  • 3 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/2 Baguette
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp water (for béchamel)

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the onions in a skillet with olive oil over medium heat for 30–40 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Prepare the béchamel sauce by whisking flour into melted butter and gradually adding heavy cream; stir in Parmesan and some caramelized onions.
  3. Boil cavatappi macaroni until al dente and mix it with the béchamel sauce.
  4. Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
