  • 11 oz soft caramels or caramel bits
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips gently.
  7. Press two-thirds of the dough into the baking dish evenly.
  8. Melt caramels with heavy cream in the microwave until smooth; pour over the dough layer.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough over the caramel layer without fully covering it.
  10. Bake for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown and set on top.
  11. Allow cooling completely before slicing into squares.
