  • 3/4 cup Milk (warmed to 110℉)
  • 2 1/4 tsp Active dry yeast
  • 1 Large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 2/3 cup Mashed bananas
  • 5 1/4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 10 TBSP Unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (for filling, room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar (for filling, packed light or dark)
  • 1 TBSP Ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 2 Bananas (sliced thinly for filling)
  • 4 oz Cream cheese (for icing, room temperature)
  • 4 TBSP Unsalted butter (for icing, room temperature)
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar (sifted for icing)
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast in a mixing bowl; let sit until frothy.
  2. Mix in beaten egg, mashed bananas, salt, granulated sugar, and cubed butter.
  3. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms; knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a damp cloth for about 60 minutes.
  5. Prepare filling by mixing softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle; spread filling and sliced bananas over it.
  7. Roll tightly into a log shape and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Place on a baking sheet to rise again for about 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350℉ (175℃) and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Make icing by beating cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
