  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Extra powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and dicing them into small chunks.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine eggs with granulated and brown sugars until smooth; then add buttermilk (or milk with vinegar), melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in diced apples.
  6. Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it. Spoon ¼ cup of batter onto the hot waffle iron for each donut.
